These domes are machine made and the top hook and hole is drilled by hand and the hook installed manually. The dome is meant to be viewed straight on with the front of the hook in front. Do to the curvature at the top of the dome the top knob may look a little off center when viewed from the side. This is normal since the top of the dome is the weakest with the thinnest glass at the top. The glass worker tries to keep the hole for the hook a tiny fraction off center by drilling into slightly thicker glass. This procedure reduces stress fractures in the glass.
